The Fate of William
It was a dark and stormy night.
William lay in bed with a bruised and swollen face.
She had been beaten up by some residents in the community, but a police officer had intervened and taken away a few people. Surprisingly, the old woman who had hit her head with a cane was not taken away.
After the police left, a group of old ladies came and hit her on the head with canes again. Before leaving, they threatened to come back and "play" with her the next day.
At first, William felt guilty and afraid, but now she felt that they had gone too far. She had already admitted her mistake and promised not to worship the altar again. What more did they want from her?
As she was thinking, she suddenly heard the curtains rustling and the wind howling outside.
She was about to call her mother to help her close the window when she felt something and turned her head to look at the window...
What she saw made her hair stand on end!
There were several white figures floating outside the window, and the sound of their feet kicking against the window was not the curtains but their actual feet!
William screamed and tried to get up to open the door and escape, but her ankle was broken, and she fell to the ground in agony.
In the next moment, the white figures outside the window suddenly appeared in front of her!
Their eyes were like dead fish, staring at her intently.
"Don't come near me!" William shouted, desperately backing away.
Her hand suddenly touched something soft, and when she turned her head, she saw a child standing in front of her.
"Hehe," the child giggled, tilting his head, and his head fell off.
William was shocked!
A surge of heat flowed between her legs, scaring her so much that she wet herself.
At this moment, her room seemed to be cut off from the outside world.
She couldn't hear any sound from outside, and her screams didn't bring her parents, leaving William in a state of panic.
The "people" around her were increasing.
Faces appeared from behind the door, hanging upside down from the ceiling, and coming in from outside the window.
Soon the room was filled with them. They were silent and lifeless, with only the laughter of children. They raised their hands and slowly approached her, getting closer and closer...
"Ah!!!"
William backed away in terror and hit the bedside table hard with her back. Despite the pain, she could only cry and scream, "Don't come over, don't come over..."
An old woman's voice came from her throat, saying intermittently, "You... are you not... worshiping the evil ones?"
"Come... worship us... we are the ones who died the most miserably..."
"Heh, heh..."
William's pupils shrank suddenly. She realized that these people were the ones who were killed by those evil ones?
So many?
Impossible... How could those evil ones really have killed so many people...
There were old people, children, and women in front of her, all of them weak and sickly.
William panicked, "I'm not... I didn't, I didn't..."
A woman screamed and pounced on her, glaring at William with her eyes popping out of their sockets!
"It's you! It's you! We all saw it... we all saw it!"
She fiercely pinched William and opened her mouth, biting her face!
All the ghosts around them pounced on her, opening their mouths and biting William's body!
They died so miserably, just struggling and fighting for their own right to a normal life!
But they were killed by the evil ones!
Yet William still worshipped those evil ones... and even talked about forgiveness.
Who was she to forgive them?
Did she deserve it?
William screamed in agony as she was really being torn and bitten. Her eyes widened in extreme fear...
But there was no one who could save her.
A few days later, Susie heard the news that William was hospitalized again for treatment. It seemed that her emotional fluctuations were too intense, and her leukemia had relapsed.
This relapse was more severe than before, and there were several rounds of rescue due to severe rejection reactions.
However, because there was no money for medical expenses, they couldn't proceed with the next step of treatment.
The infection was too severe, and some places had already ulcerated.
William was hospitalized, and the people in the community didn't go to beat her up again, but they often went to the hospital to "visit" her and spread the news of her being a wicked person.
This time, no matter how pitiful she pretended to be and how much she cried, her parents remained silent, squatting in the corner of the wall, which was really heart-wrenching.
No one was willing to help her with medical expenses.
Susie quietly asked Wade, "Brother, what will happen to that aunt if she doesn't have money for treatment in the end?"
Wade thought for a moment and said, "She might die soon."
Leukemia, also known as blood cancer, is something that ordinary people cannot imagine the pain that cancer patients go through in the final stage. It makes people feel so painful that they would even scratch themselves with a knife to counteract the pain of cancer.
One can imagine how excruciating cancer pain is.
William will slowly die in pain and despair, and Wade only has a small wish - for the disease to defeat her soon!
Seeing Susie's expression, Wade asked, "Doesn't Susie want her to die?"
Susie shook her head and said, "No! Expert Patriarch said that life and death are predestined, karma, and retribution. What goes around comes around, and when it's time to pay back, it will be paid back. Mother also said that some people are not worth sympathizing with. Father also said that people should have kindness and compassion, but not let their compassion overflow. Uncle Martin also said that some people do not deserve sympathy... So Susie thinks that William's situation is all her own fault, and she must make amends for the mistakes she has made in life."
Mrs. Alana shouted downstairs, "It's time for dinner!"
Susie ran downstairs quickly and said, "Let's go, it's time for dinner!"
Wade remained silent.
Except for feeling hungry when he wakes up in the morning, there isn't a moment when he feels hungry. But there is a kind of hunger that Grandma feels for you...
The restaurant downstairs has another sumptuous meal.
Susie took a big bowl and filled it with rice, added a lot of dishes, and as usual, placed her chopsticks on top of the rice and lit a stick of incense.
Mrs. Alana is used to it and even took a chicken leg and put it in Susie's bowl.
"Mid-Dollars Festival is coming soon, and we need to prepare to go and worship our ancestors. At that time, Susie's name will be officially added to the family tree." Martin nodded.
Kellen said, "Hmm? The little one will also go with me to worship our ancestors."
After a pause, he added, "She also needs to be added to the Morton Family genealogy."
Mrs. Alana ate her food unconcernedly and said, "You go to your side, I'll go to mine. There's no conflict. Who says a girl can't be added to two family trees?"
"In our Murray Family, it's Miss Su."
"In the Morton Family, it's Miss Mu."
"Perfect." Mrs. Alana made a gesture.
Kellen coughed...
The old woman is really open-minded.
Kellen curled his lips.
It's great that no matter where the little one goes in the future, they are all her strong backing, and no one can bully her.
Even if she gets married in the future, the little brat on the other side must weigh his options and see if he can afford to marry her.
Susie curiously asked, "Grandma Chloe, where is our family tomb?"
Mrs. Alana said, "It's in Qing Shan Cemetery."
Nowadays, cremation is advocated, and there is almost no such thing as a family tomb in the city. Many people have a memorial stone in a cemetery, while others go back to their hometown.
However, with modernization, family tombs have also been introduced in cemeteries, such as the Qing Shan Cemetery.
The price of a family tomb there is... a villa-type four-hole tomb costs 15 million dollars, and an eight-hole tomb costs 18 million dollars, and so on. Therefore, some people lament that nowadays, they can't even afford to die...
